The state of Meghalaya’s capital and a hill station in northeastern India is Shillong. It is renowned for Lady Hydari Park’s well-kept gardens. There are walking routes all around Ward’s Lake nearby. Marai Cave

One of the longest cave systems in the world is found in Shillong, Meghalaya, where the Krem Marai caves are located in the Jaintia and Khasi tribes. Meghalaya claims to have nine of the ten largest and longest caverns in all of India. The Jaintia and Khasi hills in the heart of Meghalaya are home to a number of large, sprawling cave systems that are safely concealed from inquisitive eyes. These limestone and calcite caves were formed as a result of deposits, and the preservation movement is now working to safeguard them as historical sites and stop mining firms from stealing their limestone.

By Air

Domestic airport Shillong Airport near Umroi, 35 km away, connects the hill town with Kolkata by Air India regional flights. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, which is around 130 kilometres from Shillong, is another larger and more convenient airport.

By Train

Meghalaya currently has no proper rail infrastructure. The closest railway station, located 105 kilometres away from Shillong, is Guwahati. The city has excellent train connections to all other major cities throughout the nation.

By Bus

Several buses from Guwahati to Shillong are frequently regulated by bus operators like Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) and Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC).
